TURA, Oct 2: The Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) from Aradonga in West Khasi Hills on Sunday, raised the issue of the dilapidated condition of the office cum residence of the Veterinary and Husbandry Department set up in the area, to monitor the entry of all livestock into the district.
In their complaint to the Director of AH and Veterinary in Shillong, the association informed that the facility is in a pitiable condition due to the poor maintenance and negligence by the concerned department for the last 10 to 15 years.
According to the association, the facility has remained without any kind of water supply, power source or a latrine and bathroom.
“Due to the absence of such basic amenities, it is now not possible for any staff or official to occupy the place and perform their duties,” the association said.
Pointing out that the facility is necessary for the department and more so for the people of the area, the association suggested that the dilapidated buildings are dismantled and a concrete building with full basic facilities is constructed in its place.
