SHILLONG, Oct 3: Members of a social organisation called makeSomeoneSMILE, on Saturday, morning visited sculptors and artisans, who are perhaps the first ones to cast the gateway to puja celebrations by preparing and crafting beautiful idols across the city.
The members were welcomed by 15-20 of the artisans who spoke about how they craft and design the idols. The makeSomeoneSMILE team was also offered breakfast.
According to the NGO, around 4-5 months prior to the celebration orders had begun coming. They said 3-4 members for two or maximum of three weeks were required for the creation of a single idol. Most of them reside outside the state and move to cities and states annually during this season, catering and showcasing their art.
