SHILLONG, Oct 22: The Northeastern region has undergone tremendous transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju while addressing a Rozgar Mela at the SRGT parking lot here on Saturday.
“The PM made the Northeast a priority. We can see the transformation in the region. From being a slow developing region, it has become a fast growing economy today,” he said, citing the instance of road linkages that are now being completed in a faster pace as compared to earlier times.
“Shillong was the capital of the Northeast. Since the British had already set it up as a capital, it had modern amenities since the very beginning. But when you step outside this city and move to other places you will realise the changes brought in by the PM,” Rijiju said, while assuring that in the future, nothing will be found wanting from the Centre’s side and all the issues in the region will be given priority.
Senior officials of the central and state governments and dignitaries were present at the Rozgar Mela which was officially launched by the Prime Minister to provide recruitment for ten lakh personnel via video conferencing.

BJP thanks PM
The State BJP, while expressing concern about unemployment in Meghalaya, thanked the Prime Minister for launching Rozgar Mela.
Meghalaya state president Ernest Mawrie said that even after 50 years of statehood, the various governments have not been able to generate sufficient employment opportunities for the youth of the state.
The state government’s views have always been myopic and government policies have failed to look at a holistic picture for the state, he said.
Mawrie expressed confidence that the youth of Meghalaya will benefit much from the scheme.
Referring to a recent news report claiming that an RTI has revealed that more than 8,000 jobs are lying vacant in various departments in the state, Mawrie insisted that Meghalaya needs a BJP-led government which would focus on turning Meghalaya into a revenue generator, making it self-reliant and providing new avenues for employment.
