Eugeneson may still give elections a miss

SHILLONG, Oct 26: Amid speculations that Eugeneson Lyngdoh, the MLA of Mawphlang, will not contest the assembly polls in 2023, the United Democratic Party (UDP) president Metbah Lyngdoh and the legislator had a marathon meeting at the former’s office chamber on Wednesday.
The meeting assumes significance as the UDP is said to have approached PDF general secretary, Auspicious Lyngdoh Mawphlang, to contest from the party in case Eugeneson decides to not enter the fray.
As per reports, the UDP MLA from Mawphlang is not very keen to contest the upcoming elections. The UDP president is reportedly still trying to convince Eugeneson to contest.
The MLA has so far, however, not officially announced that he will not contest the elections. But he has reportedly told his leaders and few of his close aides that he will not contest again though the reason(s) behind his stand is not yet known.
Eugeneson refused to give comments after the meeting with the party president when asked if he wished to compete in the upcoming polls.
