Four people convicted of abduction

AMPATI, Oct 31: The Court of the District & Sessions Judge, South West Garo Hills, has convicted four people of abduction of one Md. Abdur Rahim from his workplace under Betasing Outpost.
According to a statement, Rahim, who was working at Rongsang Abagre construction site, was found missing from his workplace.
An FIR was subsequently registered and four people, viz. Tangbath R Sangma, Lahen Ch Marak, Rengan Ch Marak and Chensbath A Sangma were arrested in this connection while the victim was safely rescued.
The four people were then charge-sheeted and tried in the court of law.
On completion of the trial, the Court of the District & Sessions Judge, South West Garo Hills, convicted the four persons of abduction.
“Accused Tangbath R Sangma, Lahen Ch Marak, Rengan Ch Marak and Chensbath A Sangma are hereby convicted and sentenced to undergo two years simple imprisonment with fine of Rs 10,000 only, and, in default, to suffer an additional simple imprisonment for one month,” the court said.
