SHILLONG, Nov 4: The two-day 35th District Level Exhibition, which saw the participation of entrepreneurs from 45 units of East Khasi Hills and the display of exquisite and indigenous products, concluded here on Friday.
According to a statement, the exhibition was the first-ever collaboration of the District Commerce and Industries Centre (DCIC), East Khasi Hills, and Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Labour Department.
Organised with an aim to promote and support local Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs, the exhibition was attended by people from all walks of life.
Entrepreneurs from the district also participated in the exhibition, showcasing various trades offered by Skills Meghalaya.
Principal Secretary of Labour department GHP Raju, who inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday, shared some of his ideas on the development of tourism in the state.
Stating that Meghalaya’s tourism potential is extraordinary, he said the state has approximately 3,500 homestays.
He also exhorted the NGOs, civil society, church, missionaries, etc., to educate the state youths on the benefits of entrepreneurship, while assuring that the Labour department will provide funds for the same.
It may be mentioned that the exhibition concluded on Friday with the handing over of certificates to the participants.
