WKHDCA 45th State A Chess C’ship concludes

NONGSTOIN, Nov 6: The 45th Meghalaya State A Chess Championship conducted by the West Khasi Hills District Chess Association concluded at the Nongstoiñ Social Service Society Hall, here on Saturday. The competition was held on November 4 and 5.
The primary objective of the tournament was for the selection of four chess players to represent the State at the National Senior Chess Championship scheduled to be held in New Delhi from December 28 to January 6.
The program was inaugurated by MLA of Nongstoiñ Constituency Macmillan Byrsat as chief guest on November 4.
The Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills District Garod LSN Dykes attended the closing function as the chief Guest and concluded the program with a speech and distribution of prizes to the winners in the presence of IFS DB Gunanka, Meghalaya Chess Association (MCA) president KM Warjri, secretary MCA B Kharbani, WKHDCA president R Sun along with office bearers of the District Chess Associations besides participants.
As per the final ranking, the top four winners in the senior open category including Barbith Sangma, Balseng N Marak, Silkam Sangma and Tartush R Marak, through the Meghalaya Chess Association will represent the state in Delhi.
The winners in the Open students age category include Under 10 Boys -Advitiya AG, Under 15 Boys- Arono Ch Momin, Under 15 Girls-Amamya K Sangma.
Meanwhile, the winners in the West Khasi Hills District level were Under 15 Boys Samboklang Marwein, Under 18 Girls-Angelgrace L Marshillong, Under 18 Boys-Samborlam Jyrwa, 1st Position in Open category- Gavy Jone L Marshillong, Best Male Player-Ronal Wanbor Lyngkhoi and Daphioñiewkor wahlang as Best Female Player.
