EFLU explores bilingual ways to teach language

SHILLONG, Nov 7: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Regional Campus, Shillong, recently organised a national conference-cum-workshop on ‘Teaching English in Rural Areas of North East India: Using Innovative Bilingual Methods’ along with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) North-Eastern Regional Centre (NERC), Shillong. According to a statement, the event was organised with an aim to provide knowledge and practice to teachers and research scholars in teaching language using bilingual methods, in keeping with the recommendations of the National Education Policy, 2020, especially in the Northeast.
The programme was attended by Martin Luther Christian University Vice Chancellor Prof. TK Kharbamon and Debasish Mohapatra of Tezpur University as the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively.
The programme also saw deliberations over language-related issues and challenges in the education sector.
