SHILLONG, Nov 11: A total of 21,11,214 voters will exercise their electorate franchise when the state goes to polls in February next year, Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor said on Friday, with female voters outnumbering their male counterparts.
Kharkongor said that the total number of male voters is 10,43,194 while the number of female voters is 10,68,018. There are two registered transgender voters.
He was speaking at the state-level function to launch the special summary revision (SSR) of photo electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2023 as the qualifying date and the draft publication of electoral rolls. The CEO said that the focus of SSR 2023 is on purity, health, inclusiveness, transparency & technology (PHITT).
He also called for cooperation from all to ensure a PHITT (read as fit) electoral roll and enrolment process.
Kharkongor said that the electoral population (EP) ratio is 530/100 while the gender (female to male) ratio is 1,024/1,000.
The state-level function was attended by district election officers, officials of the Election department, BLOs, Rangbah Shnongs, election icons and SVEEP partners.
On the occasion, the draft photo electoral rolls were distributed among all the political parties while the BLO kits where presented to all the booth level officers.
