Govt to consider demand for police outpost at Mukroh

SHILLONG, Nov 23: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said the state government would consider the demand of the Mukroh villagers and other stakeholders for establishment of a police outpost at the village.
In addition, the government would also speed up the process for setting up of an outpost at Barato village.
Leading a cabinet delegation to visit the bereaved family members of the victims of Tuesday’s firing incident, Sangma handed over the ex-gratia cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
Responding to the villagers’ demand for action against the atrocities faced by them at the hands of the Assam police personnel, the CM said he would take up the matter with the Union Home Ministry.
On his way to Mukroh, Sangma spoke to members of pressure groups and assured them that justice would be provided to the victims’ kin.
The chief minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar, Urban Affairs Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla.
