Petrol bomb lobbed in Mawbah

SHILLONG, Nov 28: Four days of relative peace in the capital city was marred by a petrol bomb attack at Mawbah locality in West Shillong at around 8 pm on Monday.
The attack was caught on camera. CCTV footages revealed that two youth entered the locality and lobbed the petrol bomb on the residence of Paritosh Das at Bengali Para in Mawbah. However, the bomb hit a tree on the premises and ignited a fire which was doused by the residents and neighbours. There was no damage to the house.
Police reached the sport and conducted preliminary enquiries.
BJP state president Ernest Mawrie also reached the spot and questioned Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui’s silence on the violence unleashed in the city. He asked the state government to either bring the situation under control or write a letter to the Home Ministry seeking deployment of the Army.
Sitting MLA Mohendro Rapsang also visited the spot to take stock of the situation.
