SHILLONG, Nov 30: The State BJP on Wednesday said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended all support and cooperation to the people of Mukroh and the Meghalaya government. Sarma also assured justice for the victims of the Mukroh firing incident.
A delegation of the State BJP, led by state president Ernest Mawrie met the Assam CM in Guwahati on Wednesday and submitted a three-point charter of demands.
Mawrie said the first demand – action against the Assam police and forest guard personnel – has been fulfilled to some extent since the SP has been transferred, the OC and the forest officer have been suspended and a CBI inquiry has already been agreed upon.
The second demand was removal of the Assam forest office that was constructed in Meghalaya territory. Mawrie said Sarma has assured that if the forest office is found to be illegally constructed on Meghalaya soil, order will be issued for its removal.
The Assam CM has no objection to Meghalaya setting up of border outposts provided it is done on the Meghalaya side, Mawrie said.
As far as the third demand goes, Mawrie said Sarma condemned the killings and extended all support and cooperation to the people and the government of Meghalaya.
