TURA, Dec 2: Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira on Friday maintained that it is better road connectivity that can bring about all-round development of the people and the state.
Addressing a gathering during an inaugural programme for two new PWD (Roads) offices in North Garo Hills, the Deputy Speaker noted that all-round development of the people and the state would come only through better road connectivity.
“With improved roads, the region will flourish; connecting distances to far-flung areas; bringing people closer to the administration for the overall development of the area,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the two new PWD (Roads) offices — one at Kharkutta and the other at Resubelpara.
Shira, on the occasion, also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and officials of the PWD for their initiative towards the creation of the Kharkutta PWD Division and Resubelpara PWD Subdivision offices.
“The area has witnessed huge developmental projects under road and transport through various central and state schemes,” the Deputy Speaker said, while highlighting the activities of the PWD.
