NONGSTOIN, Dec 20: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated Shallang C&RD Block in West Khasi Hills and distributed funds as well as livestock to the local beneficiaries there.
The chief minister, while inaugurating the new C&RD block, said, “I am glad to share that we are inaugurating the Shallang Block which will give more power to the citizens of the new block. This addition will help them improve their livelihoods considerably. Keeping our momentum going to bring good governance closer to the people, we inaugurated the Shallang C&RD Block in West Khasi Hills District.”
On the occasion, Conrad also distributed funds amounting to Rs 79.70 lakh under FOCUS+ programme.
He also distributed 1,600 piglets among 400 farming households and Kuroilers among 100 beneficiaries under PROGRESS scheme.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government, in a notification, has ordered the creation of Batabari C&RD Block in West Garo Hills.
