Former MLA quits BJP, joins UDP

TURA, Dec 28: Ending speculations over the move likely to be taken by BJP member John Leslie K Sangma following a spate of exchanges with district level party leader Wilver Greham Danggo recently, the former MLA has reportedly quit the party.
Sangma officially joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Wednesday, the president of UDP West Garo Hills, Ludwig Sangma, said in a statement.
He was welcomed by Ludwig Sangma adn other party leaders. “I welcome him and his team members on behalf of UDP West Garo Hills to the party. His joining will strengthen the party,” the UDP West Garo Hills president said.
Leslie, who earlier joined the BJP in the presence of party leaders AL Hek, Sanbor Shullai and other leaders in Shillong reportedly, submitted his resignation letter to the State BJP president on December 20.
“I am resigning from the party as my joining and your inducting me to the party has not been accepted and recognized by the BJP District level,” the former MLA said in his letter.
