NEHU Tura among others visited by Governor

Tura, Jan 4: The NEHU Tura Campus was among other places visited by Meghalaya Governor, Brig. (Dr.) B D Mishra (Retd.) during his visit to the region on Tuesday. The Governor, accompanied by his wife paid a visit to the university which was also attended by administration officials, local nokmas, besides other dignitaries.

Speaking during the visit, the Governor elaborated upon an achievement which encapsulated a module of 100 percent viz-a-viz target, days and achievement. He highlighted the three categories of Administration, Teachers and Students that make up the University. He also dwelled on teachers’ devotion and dedication in the making of quality students and on entrepreneurship and the vision of the NEP in generation of job opportunities. .

Along with a virtual tour , the Campus showcased it’s achievements  in three sectors of departmental , student and Campus activities which included a 100 Computer NTA centre ,a digital e magazine , community outreach programmes, village adoption as  projects and research on Campus.

A digital inauguration of the foundation of a Girls Hostel at the Campus also took place during the Governor’s visit. The Governor’s tour ended with a visit to the Exhibition hosted by Incubation Centre, NEHU, Tura Campus in collaboration with the District Sericulture Office and District Industry & Commerce, Government of Meghalaya which showcased the Eri handloom products besides local wines made from a wide variety of fruits and local  honey.

Memorandum

 Meanwhile, a memorandum raising the grievances faced by the public and students at the University was also submitted to the Governor, jointly by local organization including the GSMC, GSU and the All A’chik Youth Welfare Society (AAYWS).

The organizations raised the issue of the appointment of a full fledged Pro Vice Chancellor besides other issues like introduction of new subjects, upgradation of building infrastructure and others.
