SHILLONG, Jan 3: The Meghalaya Trinamool Congress is confident that it will surprise one and all when the party declares its one and only list of candidates this week.
Meghalaya TMC vice president George B Lyngdoh on Tuesday said the party will announce its list of candidates from 50-plus seats this week and the list will have some big surprises in the form of prominent leaders and sitting legislators from other parties.
“The official list will be coming out this week. We are trying to close in on around 50 plus seats. In some seats there are multiple applicants and hence the list is taking time,” Lyngdoh said.
He made it clear that the party will release only one list of candidates.
He said that for a party which has been set up recently, a list of 50 plus candidates is exemplary. “This shows that the party enjoys the maximum support across the state.”
Refusing to give out the names or the number of sitting MLAs from other parties joining the TMC, Lyngdoh said, “As optimistic leaders we expect to win all the seats we are contesting. We hope the people will give a chance to change and better leadership to lead the state into prominence.”
