SHILLONG, Jan 11: Catching up with the rest of the political parties, the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Wednesday released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls with representations in seven constituencies out of at least 15 in its target.
According to HSPDP election committee chairman, Witting Mawsor, the party will release the second list of candidates very soon.
“We are targeting to contest from at least 15 seats,” he said.
The seven candidates include former MLA and party president, KP Pangniang (Rambrai-Jyrngam), Medalsing Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat), Methodius Dkhar (Mawshynrut), Evalyne Kharbani (Mawhati), Primson Makdoh (Umsning), Shakliar Warjri (Mawthadraishan) and Sanjied Kynsai Shangrit (Nongstoin).
Another regional party, the United Democratic Party (UDP) had earlier on Tuesday said it will release its third list of candidates soon featuring the names of five MLAs of other parties who are likely to join the UDP.
