TURA, Jan 11: As part of India’s Tuberculosis (TB) elimination programme, the Office of the District TB Officer, East Garo Hills district, on Wednesday distributed food baskets among TB patients in order to help them attain required nutritional needs.
The distribution of food baskets was made under Pradhan Mantri TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan during a programme, which was attended by local MLA Marcuise N Marak as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA assured of help to the Office of the District TB Officer in providing the required nutritional support to the TB patients in the district.
He also contended that such programmes will benefit the patients in particular and the community in general.
It may be mentioned that the Pradhan Mantri TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which was launched by President Droupadi Murmu last year, aims at bringing together all community stakeholders to support those on TB treatment and accelerate the country’s progress towards TB elimination.
It may be mentioned that the National Strategic Plan for elimination of tuberculosis was launched to achieve the target of ending TB by 2025 in a mission mode.
