State to observe 2-minute silence on January 30

SHILLONG, Jan 25: In memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s Freedom, a two-minute silence will be observed at 11 am on January 30 throughout the state, a statement issued here said.
On the sounding of a signal at 11 am, “all persons should stand up and traffic on the road should come to a standstill and observe the silence”.
For the two minutes, all workshops and factories should stop work wherever practicable and All India Radio should stop broadcasting. The commencement and termination of the two-minute silence would be indicated to the citizens by the sound of army guns or sirens.
According to the statement, sirens should be sounded from 10:59 to 11 am and after the two minutes’ silence is over, all clear sirens should again be sounded from 11:02 to 11:03 am.
