SHILLONG, Jan 27: Congress candidate from Pynthorumkhrah PN Syiem has alleged that the constituency has suffered for 25 long years due to lack of development and provision of proper infrastructure.
Stating that not a single college has been set up in the constituency under the incumbent MLA AL Hek, Syiem said, “Can you imagine that there is no single college, forget government but even private college in the last 25 years? There is not even a single indoor sports complex and there is not even a single standard-size playground, no drainage system in many localities and not even street lights for the safety of women and children.”
According to Syiem, people from different communities in the constituency are longing for development.
Syiem also alleged that there are plenty of schools in the constituency, which are celebrating their silver jubilee and golden jubilee, which are yet to receive funds to improve the infrastructure under various schemes.
“We need people who have competence in terms of law-making and policy-making. Today we have MLAs but not policy makers, and this is the reason Meghalaya is in crisis,” Syiem said.
