SHILLONG, Jan 27: CID sleuths on Friday arrested the brother of scam-tainted police officer Gabriel K Iangrai in connection with the case pertaining to anomalies in the construction of the National Emergency Response System (NERS) building at Sadar police station here.
A source said that Iangrai’s brother was called by the CID sleuths and he was arrested.
Later, he was produced before the District and Session judge and was remanded in police custody for three days.
Iangrai is currently lodged in jail after being arrested in November last year for allegedly siphoning off funds meant for the NERS building project.
Iangrai has moved the Supreme Court for bail and the apex court has issued a notice to the state government on the matter.
