SHILLONG, Jan 30: Along with the rest of the country, Meghalaya on Monday observed a two-minute silence in memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom. The day also marks the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
In the state capital, senior government officials and staff led by Chief Secretary DP Wahlang remembered the martyrs by standing in silence for two minutes on the Main Secretariat premises.
As part of the observance, wreaths were also laid at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi by the Chief Secretary and other senior officials.
