SHILLONG, Feb 6: The Election Commission on Monday has turned down the request of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) for allotment of a common symbol “U Prah”.
In a letter addressed to the VPP, ECI Under Secretary Manish Kumar said the party failed to submit the list of Assembly constituencies it was contesting in, five days before the date on which the notification of the election is scheduled to be issued i.e. on January 25, 2023.
“In view of the above, your request for allotment of common symbol to the candidates set up by your party for the upcoming election to the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya has not been considered,” he said.
