Tura, Feb 9: UDP candidate for 50-North Tura, Dr Pilne A Sangma has appealed to the Election Department to allow drivers, conductors and handymen of commercial vehicles requisitioned for election duty, to exercise their franchise just as polling personnel do before going for election duty.

In her letter to the State Election Commissioner in Shillong, the UDP candidate said, “Poll personnel have the opportunity to vote before going for their duties. Therefore, I on behalf of the commercial transport community request that the same privilege be given to them”.
