Holiday
All state government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on February 27 to enable the voters to exercise their franchise in connection with the Assembly elections. In a statement, the government said, “Industrial undertaking or any of the establishments governed by N.I. Act, 1881, shops and those who work on shift basis, daily wages, casual workers including those working outside the constituency shall be entitled to the benefit of a paid holiday as provided in Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.”

Helpline
A Complaint Monitoring and Control Room Cell Helpline has been set up in East Garo Hills for receiving complaints during the general elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the District Election Officer (DEO), Jagdish Chelani, said in a notification. The general public can lodge any election related complaint using voter helpline 1950 and toll free number 18003453781/03658-291037, and on WhatsApp (7005203339) too.

Lok Adalat
A National Lok Adalat will be held on February 11 at 10 am in the District Sessions Court, Baghmara, the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, South Garo Hills, informed in a statement.

Timing
Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills has issued an order revising the timing for state government offices and Revenue and Magisterial courts which will be effective from February 15. The timing for offices from February 15 to October 31 will be from 10 am to 5 pm while during winters (November 1 to February 14 next year) it will begin from 10 am till 4:30 pm.
