WKH meet discusses poll expenditures

NONGSTOIN, Feb 10: West Khasi Hills General Observer Bhupendra S Chaudhary and Expenditure Observer Dr Sunil N Ranote on Friday held a meeting with the representatives of various political parties as well as various officials, including District Election Officer (DEO) Garod LSN Dykes.
The meeting, which was held in Nongstoin under the chairmanship of the DEO, discussed at length the rules and regulations pertaining to expenditures that are to be incurred by the candidates during election.
During the meeting, nodal officer of District Election Monitoring Committee HK Thabah, through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted various forms of expenditures incurred by the candidates during the election campaigns, rallies, meetings etc.
On the other hand, D Kharshiing reminded the gathering about the corrupt practices and warned that any illegal practice by a political party or candidate will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the General Observer and Expenditure Observer have called upon the political parties to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations so as to avoid any untoward incidents.
