SHILLONG, Feb 11: The RTI findings have revealed that there is alleged misappropriation of the MLA scheme funds in Mawsynram constituency.
As per the RTI filed by one Wanlambok Kharlyngdoh, it was revealed that many of the people were surprised to find out their names featured in the list of beneficiaries of the MLA schemes provided by the office of Community and Rural Development Block, Mawsynram.
Alleging that there was manipulation in the preparation of the list of beneficiaries, social activist of Mawsynram area, Diralson Dkhar told reporters on Saturday that many of the people confirmed that they had not got any financial assistance, even though their names were included in the list of beneficiaries.
According to Dkhar, the beneficiaries are supposed to receive Rs 20,000 for setting up their own business.
“As per the RTI documents, the block office informed that all the funds which have been earmarked under the MLA schemes for the year 2018 to 2022 have been released,” the social activist said.
Former general secretary of BJP Mawsynram Mahila Block Mandal, Aidalin Dkhar said that she was surprised to see that the list included hers and her brother’s name, Shanboklin Dkhar as beneficiaries.
“My name was mentioned at least thrice bearing serial numbers 46, 96 and 173. But neither I nor my brother has received financial assistance from the MLA schemes. I have brought the matter to the notice of the MLA, Himalaya Shangpliang. But he has not taken any action till date,” Dkhar said.
According to her, she should have got Rs 60,000 since her name featured three times.
A resident of Mawsynram, Abad Kharraswai also alleged that he did not receive any financial assistance even though his name was featured in the list.
“How can people include my name without taking my consent? This is totally unacceptable,” Kharraswai added.
