SHILLONG, Feb 11: Cabinet minister and NPP leader, Sniawbhalang Dhar has downplayed the presence of BJP and TMC in Jaintia Hills claiming these parties are ‘zero factors’ in the region and the ruling party will sweep the polls in the area.
Speaking to media persons, he said that TMC is mo match and hardly stands any chance against NPP in Jaintia Hills and even BJP will also fail to resonate with voters.
It may be mentioned TMC and BJP are optimistic about doing well in some constituencies of Jaintia Hills as the two parties believe they will put up a strong fight in some seats in Jaintia Hills
Expressing confidence about his returning to the Assembly for one more time, Dhar said that his main rival in the constituency can be either a Congress or an independent candidate.
Stating that his focus as a sitting MLA is to improve the road infrastructure, education and health sector, Dhar said his party is quite confident of winning all seven seats in Jaintia Hills and more than 34 seats in the state.
Denying any anti-incumbency against his candidature, he said that more and more people are coming forward and pledging support for him every day.
When asked about the issue of coal mining in the region, he said the process of resumption of coal mining is on as several coal miners have applied for necessary permissions from the Centre to start scientific mining and everyone is waiting for the approval after which the proper procedure can begin in the state.
