Shillong, Feb 12: NPP candidate from Mawlai constituency in Meghalaya, Teiborlang Pathaw submitted the court order to the Returning Officer (RO) to inform that he has been cleared of all charges in connection with certain error in the office work related to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF).
“After a number of hearings the High Court of Meghalaya has given its verdict on February 10 and now there is no more case pending against me and the matter had been disposed off,” Pathaw said while speaking to reporters after submitting the court order on Monday.
Clarifying that the error was rectified in 2018, the NPP candidate said that the court has to decide whether the allegation was true or not since it had taken up the matter.
Meanwhile, he said that he had to inform the RO about this court order since as per the norms of the Election Commission of India (ECI) he had had to declare his pending criminal case in the affidavit for filing of the nomination.
It may be recalled Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) had registered a case against Pathaw and two officials from NEIGRIHMS for their alleged collusion with the former in defrauding payment of EPF.
The NPP candidate from Mawlai had declared a pending criminal case against him at CBI Oakland in the affidavit under section 420 and 406 IPC allegation of cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property and criminal breach of trust.
