SHILLONG, Feb 27: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday made a fervent appeal to the electorate to vote for NPP to bring change in the state.
Taking the NPP’s election campaign to sitting MLA AL Hek’s turf of Pynthorumkhrah, Sangma urged people to vote for party candidate, Rocky Hek, who is the nephew of the five-time legislator.
Appealing people to vote for “Rocky Bhai”, the CM said that while casting their votes, people should bear in mind if their vote would bring change in the constituency as well as the state.
Recalling that in the past, people used to vote for smaller parties as there were not many political parties which could take people and Meghalaya forward, the CM said that this thought has changed today.
“People have slowly started believing that Meghalaya can move forward and be one of the best states in the country because in the last 5 years, the NPP-led MDA government has brought changes and the rate at which Meghalaya is moving forward, the state can scale new heights,” he said.
Sangma also stated that Meghalaya was at the bottom as far as implementation of PMGSY was concerned, but today it is one of the best implementing states in the country.
Earlier, Rocky Hek also addressed the crowd and sought the mandate of the people.
