SHILLONG, Feb 18: HITO on Saturday petitioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking action by the CBI in connection with the purported corruption and raids by the Enforcement Directorate sleuths in poll-bound Meghalaya.
In the memorandum to the Union Home Minister, HITO president Donbok Dkhar said, “We appeal to your urgent intervention to direct the CBI to take immediate action against the NPP led-MDA government for the gross and rampant acts of corruption and misappropriation of public funds in the state by the concerned Ministers/MLAs.”
The memorandum also recalled Shah’s mention of corruption in the state during an election rally recently.
“…there is urgent need to direct the ED to conduct necessary raids, seizures, etc., and the CBI to take up the investigation against the persons involved/perpetrators of the various scams and acts of corruption in the State latest by February 23,” he added.
