Polling party meets with accident

SHILLONG, Feb 25: In an unfortunate incident, a polling party bound for Jangrapara LP School of Raksamgre Assembly constituency met with an accident at Photamati.
The vehicle reportedly overturned on the road.
As per reports, a polling official sustained serious facial and head injury while minor injuries have been reported for other polling officials and security personnel.
The injured were immediately shifted to Tikrikilla CHC.
Out of them, two polling officers were referred to a higher medical facility in Goalpara. All others were given first-aid treatment and medical assistance.
Polling materials and EVM/VVPAT were secured by the concerned Sector Magistrate accompanied by the concerned Sector Police Officer in the presence of CAPF personnel and were taken to the concerned polling station which is being guarded by the CAPF so that transparency of the whole electoral process is ensured.
