Litterateur Srutimala Duwara passes away

Guwahati, Feb 27: Noted academician, author and translator of Assam Dr. Srutimala Duwara passed away here today. She breathed her last at around 11:15 am.

Noted author and novelist, Srutimala Duwara was one of the first batch of writers from Assam to enrich Anglophone Literature from Northeast. She used to write both in English and Assamese.

Dr. Duwara, a professor of Handique Girls College here, was also a popular newsreader for DD Guwahati. She was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.

She would always be remembered for her rich contributions as a writer. She was the daughter of the famous anthropologist Dr. Bhuban Mohan Das and Manjumala Das.
