People asked to come forward for witness statement

SHILLONG, March 4: With the inquiry into the death of one Aiban Khymdeit (35), reportedly killed in the post-poll violence in Mairang, already constituted by Eastern West Khasi Hills District Magistrate, all concerned having knowledge about the incident and willing to give a witness statement have been asked to depose before Eastern West Khasi Hills Additional District Magistrate VA Hynniewta.
Hynniewta, who has been appointed the inquiry officer, informed that all concerned can depose before her at the Office of the Eastern West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner between 11 am and 3 pm during working days on or before March 14 for the recording of statements.
It may be mentioned that the violence was sparked after Congress supporters gheraoed the DC’s office, expressing dissatisfaction over the results in Mairang Assembly constituency.
