Shillong, March 5: A Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Maharashtra made a bizarre statement that stray dogs should be sent to the North Eastern state of Assam where they will be consumed kicking up a controversy.
The MLA Bachchu Kadu who is also the chief of Prahar Janshakti Party made the controversial statement while speaking in the assembly during a discussion. He was bringing the attention of the house to the menace of stray dogs in his constituency.
Giving a solution, Bachchu Kadu said “stray dogs are in great demand in Assam where they are sold for upto Rs 8000. The stray dogs could be sent to Assam which will help in controlling their population here” he said.
His comments immediately started a controversy and many animal rights activists slammed the comments and termed them inhumane.
What is surprising is that recently Jharkhand BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan had also used similar comments by claiming that people of Nagaland could be brought in if the state government of Jharkhand could not find a solution to do away with the menace of stray dogs.
