Severed head found on banks of Umiam Lake

NONGPOH, March 7: In a spine-chilling incident, some locals discovered a “splitted head” of a man on the banks of Umiam Lake in Ri-Bhoi, who then informed the police.
After being informed, a police team led by Sub-Inspector B Sinha and other police personnel rushed to the spot located on the opposite side of Umiam Police Station.
Inquest was conducted in the presence of the witnesses. The body was then shifted to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for post-mortem examination so as to ascertain the actual cause of death.
The entire area of the lake was searched by the police to find the rest of the body but in vain.
