SHILLONG, March 10: PHE Minister Marcuise N. Marak on Friday said his priority for the department would be to ensure that funds allocated by the Centre are properly utilised in the state.
“I can assure you that all the funds will be utilised in a proper manner. This is possible through proper monitoring and inspection,” Marak told reporters, adding he would convene a meeting with officials of the department to review all the ongoing schemes and projects.
He further observed that the Centre is investing huge amount of funds in providing of drinking water facilities to the citizens of the state.
According to him, there won’t be any problem as far as availability of drinking water for the next 30 years is concerned if the funds provided by the Centre are utilised judiciously.
On the status of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state, Marak said he has not heard of any anomaly in implementation of the JJM.
“I am told that there is good implementation. But I will definitely find out if the centrally sponsored programmes are being poorly implemented,” he said.
The minister also expressed concern over the drying up of the catchment areas.
