“Democracy under attack”, Mahua Moitra says willing to go to jail for Tweet

Shillong, March 16: Member Parliament of Trinamool Congress Mahua Moitra Tweeted “democracy is under attack” and said that she was ready to go to jail for her remarks.

She accused the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla of not allowing opposition leaders to speak in the Parliament. She also tagged Om Birla on Twitter and alleged that only BJP Ministers are allowed to speak.

She tweeted “Last 3 days saw speaker Om Birla allow ONLY BJP ministers to speak on mike & then adjourn parliament with not single opposition member being allowed to speak. Democracy IS under attack. And the speaker leads from the front. And I am willing to go to jail for this tweet” (sic).

Even the Congress MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has leveled allegations for muting the opposition.

Chowdhury in a letter to Birla alleged that the mike on his table has been muted for the past three days.
