Prog for WKH farmers on millets

SHILLONG, March 18: As many as 80 farmers from nine villages in West Khasi Hills participated in a training programme-cum-international conference on millets at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nongshillong, on Saturday.
During the programme, a technical session was organised, which was followed by two presentations on millets on buckwheat, focussing on the various aspects of their farming and significance.
An interaction was also carried out during which the farmers put forth their queries.
Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, West Khasi Hills, L Warjri, in her address, encouraged and promoted millet farming and production for consumption.
Stating that climate change is affecting farming activities, she also encouraged the youths to take up millet farming and enterprises.
“It is a feasible option and enables the consumption of good quality and healthy millets for a better quality of life,” Warjri said.
