SHILLONG, March 20: Opposition MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh has hailed the state government for the attempt to bring the proscribed HNLC into the mainstream by initiating the peace talks with the group.
“…it is a good move to bring them into the mainstream and there is no other way to solve a problem rather than solving it through dialogue,” Lyngdoh said.
Maintaining that peace is a prerequisite to usher in development in any state, the CLP leader said that Meghalaya has huge potential in regard to developing Tourism sector and this issue would have stayed in the way for development of the state.
“I don’t see anywhere in the world where resorting to arms has brought solution to any problem,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the ongoing peace talks with the proscribed outfit is reportedly heading to a closure with the process reaching the final stage.
