Road safety week observance in SWGH ends

AMPATI, March 25: Displaying of banners on road safety at various strategic points in South West Garo Hills, distribution of pamphlets on road safety to raise awareness, eye check-up for drivers were some of the activities that we conducted as part of the Road Safety Week observance, which culminated on Saturday.
The week-long observance was organised by the district Transport department along with South West Garo Hills Police and other departments.
As part of the week-long celebration, joint checking of vehicles was also conducted in collaboration with the district police.
While on Friday, a mobile court was conducted at Ampati Police Station and Mir Jumla junction at Thakuranbari, on Saturday, an awareness programme on road safety was conducted at Ampati Degree College, which was attended by college and school students.
As part of the Road Safety Week, announcement to spread awareness on safe motoring tips was also carried out at important junctions and market places across the district.
