Kerala: Man sets fellow passenger on fire after altercation, 3 bodies found on tracks

Shillong, April 3: During an argument onboard a moving train near Elathoor in Kozhikode, Kerala, a man set his fellow passenger on fire, resulting in eight persons suffering burn injuries.

The incident took place happened inside the D1 compartment of the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train on Sunday at around 10 pm.

A hundred metres from the scene of the tragedy, three dead bodies were found on a railway track. The deceased are from the same family.

According to the reports, passengers may have tried to escape the train after the fire incident. Police are investigating to see whether there is a connection to this incident.

Reports claimed that the unidentified suspect was able to flee after the train slowed down as a result of people pulling the emergency chain. The other passengers promptly put out the fire, and they also informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The RPF has sent those who were injured in the incident to the hospital. After the required inspection, the train could proceed on its route.

Initial accounts state that the incident happened following a dispute between two passengers.
