SHILLONG, April 2: A two-day seminar on ‘Diverse Perspectives of Human Rights in Literature and Society’ held under the joint aegis of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) at the conference room of the varsity concluded here on Sunday.
Member of the NHRC, Dr Dnyaneshwar Mulay was the chief guest of the conference, besides NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prabha Shankar Shukla, and other guests were also present.
In his address, Dnyaneshwar Muley highlighted various aspects of human rights perspective present in Indian literature and society.
He said that all traditions in India espoused the principles of oneness of human being, advocated abolition of inequality, untouchability and exploitation; these, according to him, are the foundation principles of human rights which are well-entrenched in the Indian society through literature.
