India registers fresh 4435 cases of Covid, Health Ministry monitoring situation

Shillong, April 5: At least 4435 cases of Coronavirus have been reported from different corners of the country during last 24 hours.

According to data released by the Union health ministry on Wednesday, India registered 4,435 new cases of Covid in the past 24 hours, the largest daily increase in 163 days, bringing the total number of active cases to 23,091.

With the additional cases, India’s total for Covid-19 increased to 4.47 crore (4,47,33,719).

While Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Odisha, and Punjab all reported one death, Maharashtra reported four fatalities in a 24-hour time.

Kerala reported four fatalities, according to the health ministry. With 15 deaths, the death toll rose to 5,30,916.

In the past 24 hours, 2,508 recoveries were reported, bringing the total to 4,41,79,712. The number of active cases has increased to 23,091, making about 0.5% of all infections.

Presently, 2.79 and 3.38 percent, respectively, are the weekly and daily positivity rates. The health institutions performed 92.21 crore tests to date, including 1,31,086 tests in the previous 24 hours.
