SHILLONG, April 5: Meghalaya has only two active cases of Covid-19 as the country is witnessing a significant rise in the number of the cases.
These are old cases, a senior government official said on Wednesday referring to the two cases in the state.
“The genome sequencing of the two positive cases was not done since the viral load is very low,” the official said, adding the situation in Meghalaya is still very good.
The recent national survey conducted by Local Circles revealed three out of four people, who experienced Covid-19 symptoms in the last month, did not undergo testing. This finding suggests that the actual number of the cases may be underreported by up to 300%.
There has been an upward trend of the Covid infections in the country in the past few days. The numbers of daily fresh cases on April 3 and 4 were 3,641 and 3,038 respectively. 4,000 cases were recorded on Wednesday.
