SHILLONG, April 6: Meghalaya Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday joined the party’s 44th foundation day celebrations by hoisting its flags at the state party office and its mandals in Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.
According to a statement here, the foundation day was celebrated at the state BJP’s office in Shillong as well as in all the mandals.
The party flag was hoisted at the BJP office in the state capital by state BJP president Ernest Mawrie in the presence of state office-bearers, executive members, morcha heads, district presidents, mandal presidents and party karyakartas.
During the celebrations, founding members of the BJP were remembered, and floral tributes were paid to them.
It was then followed by a live video presentation of the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda.
It may be mentioned that as part of the 44th foundation day celebrations, the BJP has launched Sewa Hi Saptah across the country, a week-long programme culminating on the birth anniversary of the chief architect of the Constitution of India, BR Ambedkar.
Meanwhile, Nadda, in his address, congratulated the party karyakartas and spoke on the journey of the BJP and its recent electoral success in the Northeast region and other parts of the country.
Modi, on the other hand, remembered the founding members of the BJP and urged the youths, mahila and other karyakartas to learn while they work from positive instances worldwide.
Extending Hanuman Jayanti greetings, he said the party draws inspiration from Lord Hanuman.
“As is known that there is no work that Hanuman cannot do, similarly BJP has done, continues to do and will keep on doing all work for ensuring our country’s progress and development in all sectors,” the prime minister said.
