NONGPOH, April 11: In yet another crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Ri-Bhoi detained a tourist bus (AS 24C 9855) Tuesday morning and recovered marijuana from the possession of two of the bus occupants.
The ANTF team had earlier received inputs that two individuals were reportedly transporting the consignment from Silchar to Guwahati.
After intercepting the bus, the police conducted a thorough check and recovered a total of seven packages suspected to contain illegal contraband from two individuals identified as Rohit Raj Pandey (22) and Bipul Kumar (19), both hailing from Patna, Bihar.
The recovered packages were later found to contain marijuana and weighed a total of 8.6 kg.
Two mobile phones along with the illegal contraband were also seized.
The duo has been detained and a criminal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act is going to be taken up against them.
