Prohibitory order on Chinese Manjha

Jowai, April 14: The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has issued the prohibitory order prohibiting the manufacture, sale, storage, purchase and use of Chinese Manjha, nylon, glass-coated, synthetic thread for kite flying as it poses serious threat to humans and environment.

The prohibitory order has been issued as several accidents have taken place in the past due to the usage of these threads for kite flying.
Violators shall be penalized under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 prevention of cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, Indian Penal Code and other provisions of Law.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect throughout the entire District and until further orders.
