Heat wave forces closure of education institutions in Garo Hills

Shillong, April 18: The State Education Department has directed eductaion institutions to shut down in parts of Garo Hills in view of the heat wave.

Informing this, Minister in-charge, Rakkam Sangma said that the worst affected is the West Garo Hills District and advisories have been issued to the educational institution to close down both of WGHD and also South Garo Hills District.

He said that climate change is a global issue and policies and ideas regarding the environment should be explored.

This is not only our state but a global issue and climate change will affect not just heta wave but also water crisis
